Your facilitator
Despite my creative background, I can't stand writing about myself!
Broadcasting degree from Ara. TVNZ for a year. Content creation for local businesses and organisations for the last 6 years.
In 2023 I fell into an amazing opportunity to help Winton School create a Lord of the Rings-esque feature film with every single student over 37 shoot days.
I was also fortunate to facilitate a short holiday programme with Tim Fletcher in 2024. Continuing in his footsteps has been a goal for a long time — so I am so stoked to be in a position to run this.
I was born here, but my whānau moved us to Lincoln, Ōtautahi when I was five. When I was 10 I made a deal with my father — if we weren't in a new house by a certain day (I hated the rental we lived in. Haunted, I think) he'd buy me a camera. So I got a camera. From then I was a director, an actor, a photographer, a cinematographer — sort of. Made some awesome films with my mate Ellie, such as “The Earthquake in Columbia” and “Dr Joe and the Case of the Missing Nose.”
Fast forward to high school and my best friends and I started a YouTube channel — one which we uploaded to every two weeks for about three and a half years.
This is at its core why I am so passionate about facilitating learning film. I was pretty lucky to work out what I wanted to do at a young age and it'd be pretty awesome if I can help kids see if that's what they want as well. Or just help them burn some energy. I just love the creativity of it all.
I ended up moving down here after a year at TVNZ — for a lot of boring, personal reasons — but it's arguably not the best place to pursue a television career. That's why we started Recce, for content creation for businesses in Murihiku. I also aim to create an independent feature film down here (I am full of big dreams. Too many, arguably).
This course is another way I get to scratch the filmmaking itch and I am beyond excited to get stuck into it.
